The Hotel Colorado is a historic hotel located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, United States. It was built in 1893 by Walter Devereux, a silver baron and one of the early settlers of Glenwood Springs. The hotel was constructed at a cost of $850,000 and was designed by Edward Lippincott Tilton as a replica of the Villa de Medici. The hotel was built to attract the wealthy and elite to Glenwood Springs and was fondly called the “Grande Dame” at the time. The hotel has been used as a temporary White House, as a place of healing for the U.S. Navy during the World War II years, and a community focal point from its inception.
