In July of 2002, Jennifer Hayes left a successful New York City career and moved to the quaint little town of Telluride, Colorado. Within a few months, Jen met Kenny Rosen, a ten year Telluride local who had spent most of his years working in a variety of Telluride’s restaurants and kitchens. One evening, Jen, a self proclaimed candy-aholic, was complaining about the fact that Telluride did not have a sweet shop. Kenny agreed, and suggested adding a homemade ice cream cone to the sweet shop idea. Thus began the delightful story of The Sweet Life.
The Sweet Life opened its doors in July 2003, on Telluride’s historic main street. Instantly a favorite among tourists and locals alike, the Sweet Life was featured on both MTV’s “Real World -vs- Road Rules Challenge” and The Food Network’s “$40 a Day with Rachel Ray”
The name isn’t just a nod to The Sweet Life’s confection-driven theme, but also to the area’s surroundings. “The name is really a great play on words,” said owners Jen and Kenny. “We live in these amazing mountains, and The Sweet Life reflects that happy, relaxed and fun ambience.” While sweets are the main creation, The Sweet Life offers other comfort food dishes to round out the complete indulgent experience. Whether one fancies savory fare such as burgers & fries or sweet treats such as ice cream & candy, The Sweet Life offers a truly feel good atmosphere for all to enjoy.
